The whole day had been pretty grey and cold, but during the evening the storm finally arrived. It was raining like crazy, big raindrops smashing down to the ground and drumming against little town near the seashore. Wind howled, and threw raindrops around, making the horisont seem foggy and blurry. Two kukuris pushed themselves through the rainfall, towards the tavern in upper level of the city. Raven dove, who had stricking red hood and pointy fin-horns growing from her cheeks, shook herself even before they were near the building. She stopped for a while, taking a look to the ocean, but it was way too misty to see anything beyond couple feet away from her. The other kukuri, large crimson rook, turned around and looked at his sister with his glowing yellow eyes.
''C'mon now, Synti! The rain isn't gonna turn to stone if you keep staring at it. Even if it could happen with your eyes anyway'', he called and continued his walk. Synti turned herself around and followed her brother Raatotanssija. As soon as she reached him, she smirked at the rook and said:
''But isn't this refreshing? The heavy rain will wash out all sin of the town.''
''And the souls of ours so they can be ready to take in some more'', Raatotanssija answered, smiling slyly. The siblings laughed together while entering the tavern.

It was peaceful inside the small tavern. Fire was cracking inside the fireplace and support beams were wrapped in colorful flower petals and small skulls of animals. Even if this town was kinda forgotten one, located inside the mountain just by the seashore, it still celebrated the festival of Death. The town held enough kukuris in it, and the Death was some kind of protector for the pirates, when they crossed seas so near her sister Life. They hoped Death would keep her sister calm enough so ships could sail in peace. Synti sniffed shortly one relatively fresh skull and shook herself, making couple pirates nearby to growl at her when she dripped water all over the place. Raatotanssija cleaned his ears and started squeezing his muffed ruffle dry.
''It looks like you're having accidental satin ruffle'', Synti said amused, pointing at her brother's neck. It was true, Raatotanssija's hair was pointing straight down to the floor, giving them an impression for something much more rare than he had.
''You're right'', he growled, ''Maybe I could trick some doves to believe I am more handsome than I already am.'' He shook himself and then proceeded to find a good place nearby the fireplace. He stretched himself and layed down, purring quietly to the heat coming out from fire. Synti instead headed out for the good placed on the counter. They were treats for kukuris, in the celebration for the Death. Tributes were decorating the table all around the food, and they were just taken out from the oven, judging from the smell. Synti grapped couple good slices of chicken and trotted to Raatotanssija, laying down next to him. They ate in silence.

Kukuris didn't knew they were sister and brother, but it honestly wasn't a problem to them. They felt their stronger bond with each other, and were eager to spent time together. Synti was even a little jealous whenever her brother mated with other doves, but as long as he would stay as her mate, it wouldn't matter anyway. Raatotanssija yawned loudly, revealing his pointy teeth. Synti started licking his lips, drying him from rain.
''It was good call to come here during festival of Death. A lot of free food and gifts everywhere'', Raatotanssija said, ''Not even need to cheat out way to goodies.'' Synti smirked and nodded silently. Their loaf leader and handler were probably still in the ship, so the siblings were able to take some time to each other. Synti yawned next, and Raatotanssija licked her head with his rough tongue.
''Was it tomorrow when we visit the statue of Death?'' she asked suddenly, looking at him with questioning eyes. Raatotanssija lifted his brows and tilted his head, smoothing his ruffle quickly with his tongue.
''I think. Although I doubt it if this rain continues'', he answered. Synti perked her ears and managed to hear how the rain still drummed the roof in harsh rhythm. Ships wouldn't sail in this kind of weather and the townspeople had gathered inside all around the town. Synti wrapped her tail around Raatotanssija's rear end and let her rest against rook's side.
''Well, you know what we could do...'', she whispered, smiling so smutty that every teeth in her mouth was visibile. Raatotanssija felt sparks going through him, when he heard the tone in Synti's voice.
''You always know how to turn everything into funtime'', he stated, giving a quick lick to Synti's nose. They still had a lot of drying to catch up, so the rook rested his head backwards and closed his eyes. Synti listened how his relaxing heartbeat mixed into crackling of the fire.

My little personal writing project~
The goal is write a small slice-of-life style chapter, for every single kukuri of my loaf during the festival.
I divided them so every day of this month has 1-3 kukuris and I'll also include their handlers and the relationship between them!

So since I've been so lazy to introduce the handlers and kukus myself, now you can finally meet them!
